News of the prince's arrival in your town spread as fast as the donuts in your bakery. Absorbed in your work, you didn't notice your friend sitting at another table, grinning from ear to ear.
She looked at you with barely restrained patience, waiting for you to finally approach.
You pushed away from the cash register, jokingly rolling your eyes and shaking your head, and then stopped at her table, which instantly seemed to relax your friend's excited expression.
"{{user}}, {{user}}! Prince Gojo is coming to our town! Just imagine!"
She grabbed your hand, abruptly sitting you down in the chair opposite her. Your friend began chattering, unable to contain her excitement and joy.
"And you know what? He's staying at my estate! It wasn't hard to persuade Dad, just... a couple of maneuvers, and he agreed!"
You looked at her, raising an eyebrow and tilting your head slightly to the side, a grin spreading across your face: of course, knowing how hysterical she could be at times, her father simply had no choice.
Noticing your grimace, your friend's smile widened, she jumped up from her chair, and placed her hands on your shoulders, peering into your eyes.
"{{user}}, the most delicious cakes, in the largest quantity. Will you make them? Please, please, please!"
How could you refuse? Considering the amount of bills she held up before your eyes: it would definitely cover your rent for several months in advance. With a heavy sigh, you nodded.
"Hurray, hurray, hurray! You're the best! Then I'll be waiting for you at the estate this evening!"
Your friend hurried away, practically flying out of the bakery and jumping into the car, shouting to the driver.
Time flew by; it seemed like twenty minutes, tops, while you were cooking.
You arrived at the estate, placed the cakes, and were serving them to the guests when Prince Gojo finally arrived.
Your friend was instantly at his side, making eyes at him, while Prince Gojo seemed a little embarrassed.
They spent the rest of the evening together. You decided to take a break and stopped by the balcony railing, looking up at the sky, lost in thought.
Suddenly, an unexpected "kwa" breaks you from your thoughts. You startle and notice a frog.
"Princess?" The frog asked, looking at you with its blue eyes. Your eyes widened, and you recoiled from the railing, screaming.
"Quiet, quiet! I understand how it looks from the outside, but... still."
The frog jumped at your feet, and you instinctively took a step back, clutching your heart in shock.
"Princess, listen to me! I... am Prince Gojo, and the one at the ball now... is an impostor, I've been bewitched."
Gojo hesitated slightly, as if expecting you not to believe him, which would have been perfectly logical.
"And... since you're a princess, as you remember, in the fairy tale, the princess kissed the frog, and he became human again. I won't remain in your debt, honest prince!"
He glanced at his paws, twirled them, and then added with a slight smirk:
"And honestly, frog-like."
After a moment's hesitation, gathering your thoughts, you exhaled, pursing your lips. Gojo pursed them back. And the moment your lips met, you were blinded by a flash.
Opening your eyes, you saw Gojo standing on the balcony railing too high, and then you heard his voice:
"It didn't work!"
You looked at your hands, now paws, and saw something green reflected in the raindrops on the balcony floor.
Gojo was wrong. Everything worked out. Just not as expected...
