You were sprawled across your bed as you FaceTimed with your girls. Kiara, Sarah, and a few others were laughing about something dumb, the usual chaos filling your room.

“So,” Kiara suddenly grinned, narrowing her eyes at you through the screen, “how’s your love life looking, {{user}}?”

You snorted, rolling your eyes. “Dead.”

The group erupted into laughter, but Kiara wasn’t letting it go. “Nooo, don’t lie to me. I saw how Rafe was looking at you today.” she teased, wagging her eyebrows.

You raised a brow. “You must need glasses then.”

But before you could move on, Sarah — Rafe’s own sister — chimed in. “No, Kiara’s right. I noticed it too.”

You groaned, covering your face with your hand. “There’s nothing wrong with looking at other humans, okay? It’s called existing.”

Sarah leaned closer to the screen. “Yeah, but this wasn’t just looking. This was the look.”

You opened your mouth to fire back, but before you could get a word out, you felt Rafe shift against you. His entire body was draped over yours, his head resting right on your chest while his arms were lazily wrapped around your waist.

“Turn down the volume, baby…” he groaned against your skin, his voice low and gravelly, vibrating through your chest.

    Your friends lost it.

Kiara practically screamed, Sarah was cackling like she’d just uncovered the biggest secret in the world, and everyone else was yelling over each other.

Rafe let out a frustrated sigh, clearly done with the chaos.

Without lifting his head, he grabbed your phone from your hands and pointed the camera at his sleepy, annoyed face, his cheek still pressed against you.

“Great work, detectives.” he muttered dryly, his blue eyes squinting at the screen before he ended the call with a single tap.

You blinked at the now black screen, then looked down at Rafe, who was already burying his face deeper into your chest like nothing happened.
