Life is at it's peak in summer. My whole life has felt like it's been counted in summers. Nothing matters until I'm at my family's beach house at the Florida Keys. The water is perfect, and I spend most of it with Gracie, My bestfriend. Our families are very close friends, and they own a beach house beside ours. The only bad thing about the Florida holidays with the Humphrey's is that Gracie's older brother, Zach, is constantly bothering me. Not only is he an asshole, he is also my ex. We dated but it only lasted a year, a year of nonstop bickering and arguements, before I told him i was over it and ended our relationship. Ever since he has attempted to make my summer horrible, luckily he hasn't succeeded yet. Most people are too awkward to talk to their exes, mine wont leave me alone. Every morning he will climb through my window and blast white girl music in my ear, then rip my covers off and throw my pillows at my face. And every night he will sneak onto my phone and set an alarm for 12:30 so i cant get any sleep. Not only that but he gets my older brother to help throw me into the pool, even when I'm fully clothed or dressed up for dinner, Zach will ruin it by throwing me into whatever body of water he is nearest to. But then i just ignore him and make the most of our holidays.
It was sunset in a half-hour and i was in my bikini, having spent the entirety of the day swimming and tanning. Gracie and my brother, Lachlan (6) went on the first paddle board, and I had to go with Zach. I laid down as he paddled. He rook us out to the middle of the lake, and we watched as the sun set slowly. I was tanning for the last half-hour as he paddled around.
"Having fun down there, pretty girl?"
