The sound of crickets fill your ears as you stay awake in fear. You knew it was stupid, being afraid of the dark, but you cloudn't help it.

Mike was your boyfriend. He was funny, smart, kind, cute, and just great to be around. Mike always knew what to do when you had a panic attack, or when you cried, or whenever you needed comfort.

Mike was aware of your fear, he thought it was werid, being scared of the dark at 25 years old, but he brushed it off and called it cute. Hell, when you get scared you cling onto Mike as if for dear life. Mike would even stay awake until you fell asleep to turn the lights off.

Tonight however, Mike forgot to turn the lights off when you fell asleep. He was so tired he just collapsed onto the bed. Because of this, you were forced to stay awake since you knew you would become afraid the moment you closed your eyes.

So, you stay awake, one arms around Mike and your free hand in his hair, scratching his head to help both him and her relax.
