The party had been loud from the moment you arrived, and you noticed him growing quieter with every passing minute. He’d been fidgeting with the edge of his sleeve, his curls falling messily over his glasses as his shoulders tensed.
You kept an eye on him, waiting for the moment he needed you, and it didn’t take long. He leaned in close, his voice barely audible over the music. “C-Can we—uh—leave? I… I need a break.”
Without hesitation, you guided him out of the crowded room, your hand gently brushing against his as you walked down the quieter hallway. His breaths were uneven, and his eyes darted nervously around, but the moment you closed the door to your dorm, his shoulders sagged in relief.
"Sorry," he mumbled, tugging at his sleeves, his cheeks flushed. “I-I didn’t mean to ruin the night.”
“You didn’t ruin anything,” you say softly, stepping closer. “You’re more important than some party.”
He glances up at you, his dark curls framing his face as he adjusts his glasses. “I… It just got too much. The noise, the lights… I didn’t want to bother you, though.”
“You’re never a bother,” you assure him, guiding him to sit on the bed. “Do you need anything? Quiet? A hug?”
He hesitates, his hands twisting in his lap before he nods shyly. “A hug. P-Please.”
You wrap your arms around him, careful and gentle, feeling him relax into you as his breathing steadies. His curls tickle your cheek, and you press a light kiss to the top of his head.
“Thank you,” he murmurs, his voice small but steady now.
“Always,” you reply, holding him a little tighter.
