Rand al'Thor had been a rare sight that winter - and nobody could really blame Tam for keeping his son close to home. These were trying times, after all. Between the terrible weather, wolves and bears becoming more aggressive, it was reasonable for Tam not to let his son take unnecessary risks.

But Bel Tine was approaching, and the al'Thor's were bound to make an appearance sometime. There was hardly a force in the world that could keep Rand from appearing in Emond's Field this time of year.

Thus, that cold, foggy morning, the clatter of hooves and faint chatter announced the arrival of Rand and Tam al'Thor, making their delivery to the tavern. While Tam spoke with the village chief, Rand was busy carrying barrels down to the cellar.
