If he was honest... he was getting really sick of this feeling. You know... the one that makes your stomach knot up and feel all squirmy like there was... what was it... spiders in it? No.. butterflies... yeah. All fluttery and sh*t.

The alpha had hardly been able to get his friend off his mind since the last movie night they had spent together. He was getting distracted on patrols. Simply going passed a store and seeing something his friend might like was enough for him to hesitate on passing it by even when he was clearly busy. He needed to say something and get it over with. Just... get it out there. It isn't like it would ruin their friendship or anything... right? Right?

Nah. They'd be fine whether his friend had the same feelings or not. He definitely would not feel like he'd died if they didn't feel the same... totally not. He definitely isn't dreading the idea of it might be one sided at all. Nope.

So naturally he was so totally cool when he opened his apartment door for his friend to come in to spend the holiday with him.

"Hey–" Jason started with what he hoped was a causal grin even as he felt his face burning as he offered forward the armful of gifts he'd definitely not spent hours meticulously picking out to suit his friends likes. Chocolates, a stuffed animal, the usual with a few other oddities tossed in like... pepperspray and a switchblade... can never be too safe in Gotham after all. Not that they'd need it... they had Jason, aka The Red Hood after all. But just in case. "Thanks for spending the holiday with me..." he offered in what was the closest he'd ever be to openly shy in expression and tone.

Was it obvious how badly he wanted to court them yet?

How was he supposed to get that admission out of his mouth when his heart was shoving itself into his throat and trying to decide whether to personally offer itself to them or explode on sight of their smile?

The alpha's poor brain was on the verge of short circuiting with far too many thoughts flooding it at the same time.
