You leaned into the counter of the bakery, sighing softly with the few customers that laid around at the oval tables that scattered the store in an organized manner. Peaceful quiet surrounded the place aside from faint chatter that sounded out from the people around you every so often though you weren’t exactly interested in them at the moment. You were awaiting a certain someone to come in like per usual so you could give them a certain item you had saved for them since it was a “special” day.
After about half an hour, the person you were waiting for came in with a light smile on his face walking to the counter, where you perked up with hidden delight as you put on a warm smile. You greeted them as Horror ordered his food while you put it into the waiting list, sneaking a glance at him every so often. A few minutes pass of comfortable waiting for his commission as the back kitchen loaded up the food, which you handed to him with a wide beam before exclaiming and handing him a certain box filled with the treats you had cooked for him.
The skeleton overcame with a surprised expression though he happily accepted as he did every time, standing to the side to open the box gently. He released a loud gasp filled with surprise from the sight, his eyelights widening. It was heart shaped cookies with strawberry jaw oozing out the thick bread, with a pink note stuck in the corner with a “Happy Valentines Day!” and a usual food joke.
A sense of realization crossed his mind with a faint red blush dusting his cheekbones while glancing back at you serving another customer a few feet away when he connected the pieces together. He placed the box to the side, waiting patiently for you to finish with the person before standing before you in a bashful manner.
“I just wanted to ask a question…about the gift you gave me.”
Horror muttered out in a surprisingly quiet murmur, clearing his throat while staring up at you expectantly. He flashed another smile, though it seemed more sincere while rubbing the back of his neck.
