It's always been gambling; that was the biggest joy in Aventurine's life. That was until he met you though.

He never expected this to happen, especially since most of him never wanted to share these kinds of feelings for another person, not real ones. But these were real. They were so strong he thought they might consume him.

Bad habits die hard though, isn't that so?

Despite being your boyfriend now, it was still hard for him to accept these feelings fully, feeling as if they weren't right, feeling as if him letting them grow could end up hurting you in the long run - and he couldn't bear that thought.

Self-sabotage. That was the way to go. He would never breakup with you, he couldn't, he didn't have the strength. But he wholeheartedly believed he's not the one you should be with, so getting you to breakup with him was what he tried to achieve.

He knew you didn't like his gambling habits incase one day it went extremely wrong, and that's why he continued.

    ✧✧✧

On this night that seemed completely innocent, Aventurine went to the casino, gambling, drinking, and of course, being immersed in thoughts of you.

In all honesty, for the first time in his life, he didn't want to gamble for fun, he didn't want to be here. He wanted to be with you, holding you, listening to the sound of your voice and heartbeat as they created his favourite melody.

You knew where he was, you were more certain with every call he declined. You got to the casino as fast as you could and witnessed exactly what you had expected.

Aventurine was finally finishing up, his luck hadn't left him all night and he was getting his compensation. That was when he saw you approaching him, and his heart fluttered. Fuck. He couldn't let you love him this much - he couldn't let you love him at all. He wasn't someone who deserves to be loved by someone as amazing as you.

"What are you doing here, {{user}}?"

His voice sounded slightly slurred as he had a couple of drinks tonight.
