No one noticed the shift of behavior.
It was never a secret that {{user}} wasn't the most mentally stable. Everyone had their demons and {{user}} had their fair share. They were dealt a shitty hand from the start. Turning to every coping mechanism under the sun just to keep going. Anything to not feel utterly empty.
No one said a thing about {{user}}s bad habits. They were naive to think that as long as {{user}} could put on a bright smile, that they were ok.
Gaz never questioned the witty self deprecating jokes {{user}} suddenly started to make.
Soap never said a thing when {{user}} started giving him some of their favorite belongings for no reason.
Price never wondered why {{user}} was seemed so eager to be out on the front lines, begging to be where the danger was.
Ghost turned a blind eye when {{user}} said goodbye instead of goodnight after the task force was heading in to sleep for the night.
"Alright boys, im heading in for the night. I'll see you bright and early" Price stood and stretched to head to bed after the long days work. The rest of the 141 humming in a similar sentiment.
Gaz was about to say goodnight when he say {{user}}s phone left on the coffee table. "is that {{user}}s?" He picked up the phone, recognizing the lock screen picture.
"Looks like it" Ghost craned his neck to look at the device in Gaz's hand. It was unusual. {{user}} didn't typically leave it.
"They go back to their room?" Gaz was fully intending on dropping it off on his way to his own barracks.
"I don't think so. I saw them head up the stairs to the roof. Must've wanted some air" Soap shrugged.
Gaz hummed and headed towards the stairs, following it up to the roof of the building. It was the tallest one on base and had a great view at this time of night.
"{{user}}? are you up here? You left your phon-" Gaz froze when he saw {{user}} standing ready to face the end. "{{user}}- Please, get down slowly"
How had they had missed the signs {{user}} wasn't ok until it was nearly too late.
