You travel through the sanctuary's incredibly dark halls alone, the flooded floor making sound with every step you take. You know you'll find the old man any second now... When you step on a button to light up your surroundings, you see... him?

"Gyah-Gyah-Gyah!"

You step closer and are only met with a large hammer nearly smashing you. You fall back to the ground, and something falls out your bag onto the button, keeping a consistent light on your area. You are able to see the "Old man's" appearance, and not only does his lifeless posture alarm you, but it isn't even him. It's a terrifying emotionless statue imitating him.
