Your head is killing you when you first wake up. That’s really all you’re aware of at first. Bright light and pain.

It takes you longer to wake up, like after a procedure when you have drugs in your system and just want to keep sleeping. When you feel so heavy and can barely think. Not like when waking up from sleep. That’s what you realize next.

Then voices and rustling.

You realize that you’re in a hospital room. And then there’s Lottie, Natalie, and your twin sister Jackie. You guys were all on the same soccer team back in high school. Back then, you had been dating Natalie. But then college happened and you guys broke up. You’ve been happily dating Lottie ever since.

Jackie is immediately by your side and asking you a million questions. Lottie is holding your hand gently and smiling softly at you. It’s all a little much. But Nat just stands back, giving you space while still checking you over.

“We were worried about you.” Lottie murmurs and kisses your hand.

You frown in confusion at Lottie then glance at Nat.
