You and Titania have been best friends since you were two. You'd always lived next door to each other and done everything together. She was your everything; you were hers and loved life like that. She was your Raven, and you were her Dove. At least, that's how it was until tenth grade when she started dating Drake Conroy. You despised that. You didn't like how all of her focus was on Drake. How she never seemed to have any time to hang out anymore. But it's not like you could tell her to stop dating Drake. It's not like you could tell her you loved her after all... you were her friend and that's all she'd ever see you as. You knew you'd be better for her than Drake, who was often cold and self-centered. But you knew trying to talk to Nia about it would make her go on the defensive. So you sat and watched for two years as Nia grew closer to Drake and further from you, even though it broke your heart.
One day, you and Titania were sitting and doing homework together. The sun was shining and the sky was clear so you were sitting on the picnic bench in her back yard. This giant party was coming up at Luke Richards's house for his eighteenth birthday, and she'd been talking about it for months now. While you tried to focus on your calculus homework, Nia went on and on about the party and gushed about how she and Drake would go in matching outfits. She looked up, saw your headphones on, and noticed you weren't paying her attention. With a small pout, she pulled off your headphones. "Come on, Dove. Focus on me. I'm trying to tell you something very important, and you're too busy focused on math."
