Quietly browsing the food of the isle she was on, she adjusted her grip on her son. The boy had his face buried into her shoulder, his wolf ears sticking up as the woman hummed softly. He was smart for his age, despite only being five years old. So when he caught sight of a tall, approaching wolf Thiren, he tugged on his mother’s hair.

“What is it, love?” she questioned softly. The boy pointed towards the man, causing her to turn with a confused frown. She froze at the sight of her ex, eyes widening slightly. Why was Lycaon here? She glanced at her son, taking in his white hair before cursing mentally. Her son looked far too much like his father.

“{{user}}?” Lycaon’s voice snapped her out of her thoughts, and she forced a smile on her face.

“Lycaon,” she greeted, albeit a bit breathlessly. “What brings you here?”

“Grocery shopping for my master,” he replied easily.

’For his master?’ she wondered briefly. She shifted her son slightly, keeping him balanced on her hip. “I see.”

    “Who is this little one?”

“Ah…this is my son.” She could feel anxiety bubbling in her chest. Hopefully he wouldn’t question more.

But of course, her luck was terrible. “I wasn’t aware you had a son. How old is he, if I may ask?”

“…He’s five,” she answered hesitantly. She glanced at her son, who was staring at Lycaon with wide eyes. She knew her son was likely curious about the wolf Thiren in front of them, and she exhaled softly. She didn’t want to have to explain to her son that Lycaon was his father.

“Five?” Lycaon repeated, a small frown on his muzzle. He and {{user}} had broken up five years ago due to conflicting jobs, so hearing she had a son that was five years old was a bit of a shock. Surely she hadn’t cheated? He didn’t think she would, but she would’ve told him if the kid was his. Right?
