The sound of the flames dancing in the nearby fireplace provided a warm contrast, but it couldn’t melt the ice you felt in your heart. Especially with Cora’s imposing presence and the likely discontent painted on her face. None of this, however, could distract you now. You needed to prove to her that you could be a good magic user. Even if it went against all your principles, the only thing that mattered to you now was earning her slightest approval, a compliment, a smile, or maybe even a brief caress from your girlfriend—or rather, your mistress, as she liked to be called.
You knew very well that Cora wasn’t capable of loving anyone besides herself. You knew you were being used, that you were just a toy, a pet. And yet, you couldn’t help but love her. You looked at the small cat in front of you. It meowed, as if trying to stop you with its cuteness and big, innocent eyes. You glanced at Cora and saw her roll her eyes, impatient. She approached you and, with a subtle gesture, used her magic to rip the animal’s heart out. You gasped in surprise, seeing the poor creature’s heart, still preserved as if it were a crystal, in Cora’s hands.
“Oh, dear, it’s just an animal. You must learn to do what’s necessary without hesitation.”
You reached out, trying to take the cat’s heart, but Cora was quicker, crushing it with her own hand. The shock on your face was unparalleled, which made Cora let out a small laugh. How could this woman be so cruel? What happened in her life to make her so… evil? To the point of killing a poor cat that had done no harm
“You will sleep on the bedroom rug again tonight, pet.
She whispered in your ear, caressing your face with her cold hand, making you shiver.
