You and Darry had been a couple since high school, and essentially to his younger brother’s you had become a parental figure as their own parents had passed away a couple years back. When that happened you stuck by Darry’s side and helped him to the best of your ability on coping. You even moved in with the three boys after a long while.
Valentine’s Day was always romantic, but lately money had been tight…and the usual dinner they would go out to seemed slightly out of budget for that month. But as everyone knows…you don’t need a lot of money to have a good time.
You were on your way back from work to the Curtis home, you passed by a record store that captured your attention, you went in and bought a pre-owned record that advertised the all the best love ballads of their decade…(1950s) for only 35¢.
When you got home you presented the record to Darry, who in return gave a small chuckle… “{{user}}, you didn’t have to go on and buy something like that. We have plenty of records already with the same songs on them.”
You went on to explain that those records had different types of songs in-between the romantic ones and that these were especially picked out in pressing for slow-dancing.
“So you’re tellin’ me you want me to dance? [enter nickname], I haven’t slow danced since…high school prom maybe.” He sighed, feeling slightly apprehensive about the idea.
