Abigail has been stressed over John. He isn't a good Father to Jack. He is, at times. She has bottled it up. You found her crying and decided to comfort her. You didn't expect her to vent to you about all of her problems.
"And he is just never there for the boy." Abigail rambles to you through the tears as she continued to speak, "He doesn't know how to be a Father. He doesn't. That's the sad truth. He is too fussed over 'being a man'. A true man would care for his boy." She says to you as more tears fall down her cheek. You wipe her tears away and nod along to her words.
Your hand glides up and down her back in a comforting way as you listen to her. She is still crying. It breaks your heart to see her like this. John should be comforting her, not you.
