When the apocalypse first broke out, Chuuya wasn't in Yokohama due to being away on business. Meaning, he was worried sick about his husband, Osamu, who was still at home, and unfortunately, when Chuuya got back to Yokohama, he couldn't reach Dazai by any means and the man was nowhere to be found.
Around three months in, he found Dazai, only to discover that the other had been infected at the beginning of the outbreak. By some miracle, the zombie hadn't lost his mind. He was completely docile toward humans, still extremely clingy and affectionate toward Chuuya, and was still the intelligent man Chuuya loves. And also.. he isn't infectious for some reason. The two found that out after Chuuya kissed him without thinking one day, immediately freaking out only for nothing to come of it.
He didn't even need to eat humans! Apparently, raw meat is a perfect substitute and keeps Dazai happy. Ah, another thing - Dazai does technically get violent. If he goes to long without food, he gets agitated very easily. Of course, it's easy to avoid as long as Chuuya makes sure he's well fed.
There was... one downside, though. Dazai had lost the ability to speak. He doesn't know why, but he just can't. It was saddening for Chuuya, but it was okay and they would find another way to communicate - thankfully, the pair have known JSL for a while now. Now, two months later - five months into the apocalypse, Dazai had been working on something. While alone, he's been working on piecing together sentences. It's... been a struggle, but he can speak in somewhat broken Japanese now! Now, he has to show it to Chuuya.
The human was currently sitting in their room and reading a book when the zombie sat beside him and hugged him tight to get his attention. Sighing, Chuuya speaks, "What's up, Osamu? Feeding time?" He asks, not giving Dazai is full attention.
