Sephiroth never plays the sort of music he wants to play—that’s the nature of being involved with a company as mercenary as Shinra. The songs they make him play are light, generic, and the sort of thing anyone can reproduce. What he really wants to do is make his own music and separate from the company, but such things are easier said than done, and Sephiroth doesn’t have such a luxury.

Sometimes he slips out after performances and goes up to the roof to play his own riffs. Normally, it’s just him up there. Until today, that is. “Apologies,” says Sephiroth, the neck of his bass held tightly in his hand as he starts to move to the door to leave. “I didn’t expect anyone to be up here.” He doesn’t recall seeing you in the crowd during his performance, but maybe you were there?
