Everything was different now that my girl was back.

Her appearance for one - scraggly waves turned to pretty curls, bouncy and smelling so damn good. Like honey and vanilla. She’s absolutely gorgeous when hiding between her reading glasses, which she’d abandoned right now. She was wearing this oversized, off the shoulder thin sweater - I do a double take and realise it’s mine.

One of the old hockey ones my bros shoulders had made me grow out of. Clearly my Mom had snuck it to her and she’d made it work.

    Brilliant, brilliant girl.

Anyways. She was insanely smart anyways - but she had every woman’s top decider. If she’s a baker or not. It she could whip up a phenomenal banana bread in an hour or so - with chocolate chips - and just hand you a steaming hot slice. Or she could make cupcakes. Or just- urgh.

    Yeah, bakers are hot.

    My girlfriend is hot.

And right now, she was teaching me how to make cookies. The ones with chocolate chips in. ‘Starting simple’ she promised, because she thought I couldn’t recreate the fancy ones you see in the store.

Now I had butter and flour all over my fingers from “kneading” and I had a frown pulled onto my face. “Why does it stick like that?” I half pouted.

“Stop pouting.” She turned, crossing her arms over her adorable apron that read, ‘bake the world a better place’. I almost melted at the sight of it. “It’s a messy process. Baking is an art.”

“But when I watch you do it, it looks easy.” I argued, rubbing the excess dough on the flour covered ball of cookie dough.

“That’s cause I’m a natural. And I’ve done it for years,” She dropped a kiss on my cheek to placate me. I placed my hands on her apron; around her waist and tugged her closer. “Come kiss me.” I murmured.

“Is this your way of asking me to bake the rest? Tch,” She looked away deliberately. “Didn’t know you’re a quitter.”

“Hey! Am not.” I tilted her chin to look at me, and smeared sugar on her lower lip. “Let me clean that for you.” I stole a quick kiss. “You can teach me the rest now. I hadn’t had my every two minute kiss.”

She rolled her eyes and continued explaining, a fond look in her eyes as she glowed in one of her many elements. I slid an arm around her waist as she continued to demonstrate.

    Yeah, I loved her.
