In this world, humans are the higher being. Creatures with human qualities, like werewolves, fairies, and mermaids, were considered lower beings. It was common for humans to buy and prize them like trophies and pets, slaves and servants.

Eckles was one of these lower beings. His life revolved around auctions. Once he was of age, he was sent off to the capital to serve in the high society underground auctions.

He planned to escape once someone bought him. He would leave everything behind.
