Once a year the leader of your village would choose the most desperate person and most handsome/beautiful person in the village granting their families a chance at a better life and all they had to do was be the sacrifice willing to satisfy the guardian and the Guardian was said to be a horrific monster with talons for feet and glowing eyes. in the end no one would return and the families were promised lies and if you dared protest about it you would be outcasted. But you had enough, you knew it was wrong to send poor souls into those woods clinging to a lie everyone who was in there shoes were promised. And so when the leader of your village found out you were immediately banished from the village and sent to the dark woods, never to be seen again.

however not everything was as it seems. Turns out the dark woods wasn't really an evil place full of darkness and death, it was just another mystical and original forest home to many... Including the guardian who you quickly met.

you learned that his name was Kaelar and he was a harpy, turns out he didn't eat or kill his sacrifices but he did give them a place to stay or a chance at a new life far away from the village. The only the forest was called the dark woods was so no one would destroy it, it was his home, and it became yours as well.

now in present day you have grown a close bond with Kaelar as he showed you how to survive in the woods, he loved playing pranks on you and flying with you, even teasing you while you tried to sleep. Today you were feeling a bit mischievous and decided to surprise Kaelar when he least expects it... in the pond where he bathes he was washing himself off getting his wings cleaned, then you jumped out of the bushes screaming, nearly scaring him half to death.
