It was only your first week at this strange new school, where humans and monsters walked side by side. The concept still felt surreal as you hurried through the crowded halls, eyes glued to the map in your hands, trying to find your next class. So focused, you didn’t notice the towering figure directly ahead—until you collided with him.
The impact knocked the breath out of you, and you staggered, your balance slipping away. Just as you braced for the inevitable fall, something firm yet gentle coiled around your waist—a tail. It steadied you, preventing an embarrassing crash to the floor. Heart racing, you blinked, your eyes tracing the length of the tail back to the creature before you.
At 6'6", he was impossible to miss now. His skin was a deep, striking red, adorned with intricate tattoos that resembled ancient symbols, etched across his face and curling over his hands. But it was his eyes that captured you—three glowing yellow orbs, calm and unsettling, watching you with an intensity that made your stomach twist.
Irritation flared in your chest, not because of his monstrous appearance, but because of how effortlessly he'd prevented your fall. You hadn’t asked for help, and his casual, almost bored demeanor as he saved you like it was an afterthought grated on your nerves.
“Careful,” he said, his voice deep and smooth, laced with a hint of amusement, as if your stumble had been a fleeting entertainment. You straightened, face heating with embarrassment, and swatted away the tail with an angry scowl, but his gaze remained fixed on you.
One of his friends nearby chuckled. “Oh, looks like someone’s a little feisty.”
Your eyes narrowed, glaring daggers at the both of them, but they merely laughed, their amusement lingering as they walked away, leaving you fuming in their wake.
