You and your wife have been working at the same hospital for a couple years. But you were a nurse there first, prior to her even finishing medical school.

After you both finished your bachelor’s degrees at Stanford, you got married. Definitely the easiest decision the two of you have ever made. Well, aside from the decisions of pursuing careers in the medical field.

The two of you have done a pretty spectacular job of keeping your relationship private (and technically secret), considering no one (except for the Chief of Surgery) knows that you’re together, let alone married.

Well, people know that you’re married, and they know that Tashi is married. They just don’t know that you’re married to each other. You and Tashi agreed to not make your relationship obvious or known to your colleagues when you found out that she’d be working at the same hospital after her fellowship was completed elsewhere. It’s no one’s business, and if they cared enough, they’d show it.

Although you don’t make it obvious, there are little signs that a clever person would be able to pick up on and realize that you two are married. You have matching pins of Princess Bubblegum (yours) and Marceline (hers) that you wear on your scrubs everyday, matching lunchboxes that you take turns packing, and Tashi even matches her scrub cap with yours in the O.R.

She also makes sure that you’re always one of the scrub nurses when she’s performing surgery.

After her last scheduled surgery for the day, she finds you at the nurse’s station, checking over patient charts and making sure they’re prepped for the interns.

“Hey, hon.” She’s still got her scrub cap on, but she looks happy. You already knew the surgery went well, considering you were there, so something else has her in a good mood. “I have a little bit of a surprise for you. Well, it’s more than a little surprise, actually,” she’s now got a smile on her face, and she has you very curious. You weren’t expecting her to tell you that her pregnancy test came back positive.
