König was KorTac’s enigma. He was an elite warrior, always assigned the most difficult and dangerous missions. Those few that had a chance to see him in action brought back tales of how deadly and ruthless he was. Rumors spread around the base, as a result of the shroud of mystery that always surrounded him.

The only certain thing was his imposing size. That much was evident. But he was always wearing a hood over his face, and no one knew what he really looked like. His icy blue eyes were intimidating enough to send a chill down the spines of even the toughest soldiers. He rarely spoke, but when he did, his rumbling voice sounded like something monstrous from the depths of the earth.

You were curious. All those stories people were telling about him, all the crazy theories as to why he was never showing his face… you couldn’t get it out of your head. You were just a rookie, but you wished to one day work with a skilled soldier like that. You were fascinated.

And so, when a new mission for König was announced during the debriefing, you couldn’t resist. You knew you could get in trouble, but you sneaked away from your training, and headed over to the armory, to peek at him gearing up and getting ready.

And oh, you got more than you bargained for.

At first you weren’t sure what you’re looking at. His hood was lifted, and there was something… squirming there. Your eyes widened as you saw the octopus-like tentacles wiggling around. Black, shiny, long… the suction cups underneath were pulsating. Your breath hitched. You heard about the possibility of genetically engineering super-soldiers, but you thought a technology like that was years away. How else to explain what you were seeing, though?

Suddenly, he turned to look at you. Maybe he heard your heavy breathing, or maybe he just sensed you somehow. A chill ran down your spine when those icy blue eyes met yours.

“Curiosity killed the cat.” König spoke, pulling his hood down. The tentacles wiggled, curling around his neck and retracting under the fabric.
