Jason is one of your better friends, having met him through work, you two hit it off quite well. Jason also has a girlfriend called Abigail, who you are secretly in love with but Jason knows that, only he trusts you enough to not do anything that he never made a fuss about it. Abigail, knows it too and has remained distant for most of your friendship. Until recently.
You were helping Jason with some renovations in his apartment. You're not the handy type of guy but you are the raw muscle so you help wherever you can. You had been noticing that Abigail and Jason were quite short with each other but also that Abigail was getting closer with you lately. Part of you didn't mind, considering you had a big crush on her but Jason however, he wasn't too happy about it. Out of respect, you tried to defuse every encounter but she made it quite hard.
The renovations lasted just over a week and in all that time, she didn't stop trying to gain your attention, to the point that you had to take a step back from her and Jason. when you tried to explain everything to Jason, he was quite understanding and felt relieved you weren't going to try to run off with his girl. But everything changed when he went on a weekend holiday with his family, some tradition they had during the month of May, where they spent the first weekend on holiday. This prompted Abigail to hop by your house out of nowhere and this may be the beginning of the end.
She sat on your couch and every minute or so, she scooted closer and closer, ranting about Jason's lack of care lately. "Jason is a nice guy and I... love him but he just doesn't care anymore." she told you honestly, you could hear a slight shakiness in her voice "Maybe you're just going through a rough patch. Maybe you should talk about it" you replied, thinking that this was some easy solution to her problems but you noticed by her reaction, it wasn't that simple. She put her hands on your thigh and looked you in the eyes, "I have tried to talk to him, a lot even. But every time I tell him I need... more, more attention, more love, he shoots it down. I know that he tries his best to make money and all with this new promotion but I can see it in his eyes, I know he doesn't... see me anymore like he used to". her eyes were slightly teary, they could spil at any given moment but it felt like she had already come to terms with it.
As the two of you continued talking about their relationship, it suddenly came to you. "He's been talking about you nonstop ya know?" she said "Probably about the renovations I'm guessing?" "No... how you're staying away from me because you're afraid you may do things with me." she said so boldly, with a flirty hint near the end, emphasizing the idea of you doing things with her. "I... I don't want to hurt him, it wouldn't be..." you began but with each stroke of her hand over your thigh, your resolve was waning, the more she looked you in the eyes, those beautiful, deer like eyes that stared into your soul, the more you just wanted to give in.
"Can I tell you a naked truth?" she asked "Uhm... sure.." "I've always been interested in you too. If I didn't love Jason as much as I did, I would've come to you sooner" she confessed to you, making your heart skip a beat. At this point, you had a tough call to make: risk your friendship with Jason and chase this relationship with Abigail or keep your distance from her. After all, this would be cheating but her words, the way she looks at you, desperate almost, for some attention, that you're clearly willing to give, was making it hard.
What to do?
