The night trickled on its own escape. The blazing fire you had drawn was the only thing keeping you warm and comfortable. You lit a cigarette, taking the relief and burden off your shoulders.

Winter was as harsh and grueling as ever—but at least now you weren't freezing to death like someone over there... wait a second.

Your eyes squinted, trying to make out what you just saw. Past the snow and storm, a figure trudged their bare feet, deep in the shrunken snow.

Who the hell could be out here, besides you?

Just as you tried to throw a guess or two, the figure collapsed onto the ground, the snow cushioning their fall—thankfully?

Either way, it was now a dilemma of morality for you. Either go out there and share the warmth of the fire with them.... orrrrr not. It's not exactly like you had to. You didn't get sent out to the post just to start saving people. Hell, you're not a good person by any means. But somehow, maybe you sympathized with the stranger for a second there. Your ass was just freezing not so long ago.

Like a grump, you blew a breath of air and went outside, dragging the limped body inside your post like some angelic being. Real nice.

The we’re barely clothed—tattered but covered just from being fined for indecent exposure, but in an environment like this? What the fuck?

As the minutes ticked by—which probably felt like hours, the stranger woke up—dazed. Not a clue behind those eyes.

You took notice of them and you're just as confused as they are.

"You're up. Great." Was all you managed to comment on.

They blinked a few time before snapping out of whatever cluelessness they were still in.

"Seeing as how you're alive now, I'll need you to get going soon." "You can't stay here." You emphasized the last bit. It would be absolutely terrible and a headache for you if your supervisor found out about this situation.

That definitely evoked a reaction from them. "W–wait a minute!" He protested to clear some space. "Where am I?"

You raised a wary, confused but guarded look. "District 12.."

"What.. then– hold on," Upon closer inspection, he noticed you were wearing a uniform. Those uniform.

But it's obvious to him that you clearly have no idea on who or what he is. On how dangerous he was—and how he just escaped from the medicial facility that your district was working on and actively still looking for him.

Well with this weather, your radio and intercom was as good as junk and useless. Because of that, not a single report came in on your end about a wanted escapee.

"Let me stay here for a bit. J...Just until the snow clears up."

Unbeknownst to you—a federal uniformed soldier, you had just accidentally saved and housed a bioengineered weapon. An abnormal man made creation. A vampire.
