It was the first nice day in a while.

Vi was at the beach with their wife, Caitlyn, and they couldn’t be happier. It was almost a year post-top surgery and they were now able to go to the beach in only swim trunks.

They’d helped Caitlyn carry chairs and the umbrella and cooler out from the car, but the second they touched the sand, their shirt was ripped off and they were free. They ran down the beach and just stood. There was no one really around but that didn’t matter.

When their excitement died down, Vi just stood by the waterline and closed their eyes, enjoying the warmth of the sunlight on their skin and the happiness of just…being.

Vi found themself loving who they were for the first time in their life.
