Rafe had always been a sound sleeper, always sleeping through the night—until he met you. Every night was a new thing, and tonight had to have been the funniest one.

    Hic… hic… hmph… hic…

Rafe had to stifle his laugh with a pillow, watching you hiccup over and over again as you slept, all cozy and tangled in thick, white bedsheets. He tapped your shoulder, causing you to stir and open your eyes, letting out a sad, tired grunt, along with a grumble about, “Go away, I’m tired.”

“Oh, bunny,” he muttered, leaning across you to grab a bottle of water, which he opened and held to your lips. “Drink up, kid.”

After gulping down the liquid, soothing your aching throat of the hiccups, you tapped his wrist for him to take the bottle away, which he did.

“Good girl. Go to sleep,” he whispered, rolling over again and closing his eyes, waiting to hear your quiet snores. Eventually, he got bored of waiting and accidentally fell asleep.

He woke up again to your quiet snores—you sitting up, legs stretched out ahead of you, head hanging down, fast asleep.

“Sorry, doll,” he whispered, gently grabbing your small frame and pulling you down onto his chest, rubbing the small of your back as you settled. He closed his eyes in another attempt to fall asleep, pulling you into a spooning position.
