Suguru never wanted to open up past wounds. Never wanted to go back into the past, he tried hard to forget it for a purpose. Since deciding to get rid of all non-sorcerers, he didn't contact any of his old friends. Or his past lover. He had absolutely no plans to meet any of them again, for their own good.
But life worked in funny ways, and fate couldn't be changed, so this one time he went out to run an errand himself instead of making all those dumb followers of his do it for him, he ended up running into the one person he did not want to see.
Past memories flooded his mind in an instant when he saw the one he had once loved unconditionally. The one person who'd he ever truly adored, the one he once wanted to marry, the one he wanted to spend his life with back when he was a teenager. With a child. A kid, no older than five, hand in hand.
His eyes scanned the little kid you had by your side, and it made his throat feel tight. Simply because at first glance, he could tell it was his. Back from when you two had said your last goodbyes, spent the night wrapped in each other's arms, loved so tenderly. He didn't think one night of carelessness would make you a mother. The kid had his eyes, only brighter, sparkling with childish innocence and joy that told him that you'd given it a good life.
And he stood there for a moment, trying to process. He knew he should've left the moment you two locked eyes, but how could he? Not only did he meet the love of his life after more than five years, he had also met... his child. And for some reason he just couldn't leave.
He'd stay for only a few minutes. Just to get some information, then he'd leave. Really, he would. Or that's what he told himself, anyways.
"What's its name?" Suguru blurted out, his voice uncertain and low as he glanced between you and your kid that looked at him with curiosity and slight wariness, hiding behind your leg. Good. That meant that his kid wouldn't trust a stranger blindly.
