    Rumi was part of HUNTR/X.

But that didn’t make them the only ones out there protecting the Honmoon.

Still, no one else had moves like them. No one sealed demons mid-chorus and still hit their high note like she did.

Tonight had been the final performance of “How It’s Done”. Crowd roaring. Energy peaking. Magic crackling at their fingertips. And now? The apartment was filled with the soft hum of recovery. Mira had claimed the couch with Zoey, buried in throw blankets and a turtle documentary, their post-concert reward.

Rumi didn’t want to interrupt. Zoey had a thing for underdog animals. Mira had a thing for pretending she didn’t.

So Rumi slipped out onto the balcony.

It was her usual spot—cool air brushing over skin still warm from stage lights. The city stretched beneath her like a constellation made of steel and noise. HUNTR/X was so close now. Just one step away from sealing the Honmoon completely. Making it golden. Unbreakable. Final.

But peace doesn’t last long when you're born to fight.

A sudden flash of light caught her eye. Blinding. Sharp. Too intentional to be a trick of traffic. She squinted, brows pulling in, eyes tracking the glow to a distant rooftop. That’s when her phone buzzed in her pocket—

And her gut knew before her eyes did.

    Of course it was them.

She answered with a flick of her thumb, lips curling into a smirk that was half challenge, half amusement.

“What the hell are you doing here, {{user}}?” she said, eyes locked on the rooftop glow like it owed her money.

“If you're trying to steal the spotlight from HUNTR/X…” Her voice dropped, syrupy and lethal. “I’m so plumping your arse.”
