In the Heian era, in the mountainous province of Izu, three famous samurai — Toshiro, Yasunao and Keiji— married a young woman of rare spiritual power. Her presence brought good luck and inner peace. People believed that her breath deflects evil, and prayer can stop death. For the sake of peace in the land and the strengthening of the clan, the warriors bonded with her through a sacred marriage ritual.
