There was definitely a right or wrong in Valeria’s home. Her family was christian, forcing her to be apart of their beliefs.

Despite these loudly spoken rules on what’s wrong or right, her parents were monsters. It was okay for them to break rules, but god forbid their precious daughter break them.

Her father was a drunk, often downing bottles any chance he could. If the church knew what happened behind closed doors of this pastors home, he would be done for.

“Everyone makes mistakes,” he would say when you confront him for his wrongdoing. “You will go to hell,” he would shout when Valeria did anything wrong.

It was like a war field when Valeria’s mom opened her bedroom door to find the two of you kissing. Valeria knew who she was, she was proud of who she was; but her parents shamed her. “Man and woman, not woman and woman.”

Since then, she couldn’t have friends of the same gender over. On top of her of her parents being ashamed of her, carrying her father’s drunken acts made it so challenging to get through the day.

Despite the rules, she would still sneak out to see you. Tonight, she had just turned 18 and her family, like always, did nothing. What stopped her from crying was knowing she would have a safe space with you.

Your family was supportive of your love life, your home was peaceful, quiet. No one had poisonous substances entering their body. It was just safe with you.

With her being an adult, she didn’t care about sneaking out anymore. She packed her bags, passed her parents in the living room, and ran straight to your home. After a few knocks, the door opens and she’s finally met with peace. You, however, see a very disheveled Valeria who’s in the verge of breaking down.

“Please, amor…” her voice cracked, ended her sentence.
