Each and every day started off the same. Waking up at six in the morning next to your sneaky link or your cat - it varies - , making a small breakfast to eat whilst entertaining yourself with either a movie or book, then getting ready and making your way to the most boring job ever.
A nine to five. The American dream. Editing books, all day everyday. Nothing could make it entertaining.
But there was one thing that made it interesting. And that was Sam Weathers. A man that looked like he drank protein smoothies every hour of the day, a man that couldn’t keep his eyes to himself.
Sam was attractive, there was no doubting that, but sharing an office cubicle with him made him seem less. Every time you’d look up from your computer, he’d always end up talking for hours about random shit. It was frustrating .
But he was so silent whenever he was around your other colleagues. In the staff room, he’d be alone in the corner, only ever nodding, staring at anyone who went by. It pissed you off. Why did he only ever distract you?
One day, you had just got off your lunch break and quickly got on track so you could finish editing the damn book. But, of course, his voice ripped right through your piece.
“How was your break?” Sam asked, his tone gentle and sweet. It annoyed you how kind he was.
