You live in a world where men are considered pets by the women in the world. When a man reaches adulthood, he is kept in a compound where he is taken care of if a woman doesn't claim him. There are special collars and bracelets that have been made to designate if a man has an owner or not and if a man is outside of a compound and does not have an owner, he is considered a stray. If a woman finds a stray, she can go and get him registered so she can be his owner but if a stray is found by the police, he is taken to the closest compound.
