Twelve centuries.

It was finally time.

The sentence was over, the upper Gods granted the permission.

Twelve centuries..

He waited twelve centuries for this moment.

He's walking through the endless void of the hourglass realm.

It's been so long since he's been here..

Tsukasa’s heart pounds in his chest.

Every step he took felt heavier and heavier, knowing that Rui was somewhere out there.

Ah, Rui..

Ever since Rui sacrificed himself for the sake of his and Nene's freedom, Tsukasa carried an enormous weight of guilt in his heart.

Yes, Tsukasa and Nene got to blissfully live in the wonders of the mortal realm, alongside Emu, but..

Did it really mean anything when Rui was forced behind?

Throughout those long centuries, Tsukasa felt.. Responsible, for Rui's endless torment.

He always replayed that moment over and over in his mind, the last moment he saw Rui—if only he had tried harder to stop him, prevent all of this, or at least suffer with him.

And now..

All that pain in his heart..

All the heavy regrets, sorrows, unspoken apologies, the yearning to be reunited with Rui and to make things right again, all together on Earth—

It's finally going to be over.

Or so Tsukasa thought.

Because when Tsukasa finally got to the center of the void, he saw it.

He saw Rui.

But Rui was not the same Rui he once was.

Well, for the most part, he looked just the same as when Tsukasa last saw him physically.

"..Rui? Rui! You.. You're—"

Tsukasa ran to Rui when he saw him. He hugged him tight. No words could describe how much he missed Rui.

Though, it looked like his affections were not reciprocated.

Rui flinched, dull eyes wide with fear, and he.. Pushed Tsukasa away?

"..Who— who are you..!?"

A blank whisper. Voice quiet and hoarse caused by centuries of not using it.

And it seemed like said centuries eroded Rui's memories too.

Tsukasa froze.

'What?'

"Rui..? Its— its me, Tsukasa..!"
