You were a widow, experiencing the terrors of the wars your kingdom sacrificed for you and your child’s safety. Your husband wished you well not knowing that it would be his last chance to see your beautiful face and watch his handsome son grow. You were escorted by your husband’s best knights in order to save you but they didn’t make it.
All alone in pregnancy with no shelter was shameful enough. You walked far measures to reach safety but there were no signs. You pass out and are woken back up in a moving wagon. They lead you into a huge kingdom and you were then thrusted into the role as ruler alongside the revenging king.
You were sent for an ultrasound appointment to check the baby’s gender and condition. It was a girl, you were excited because it’s what your ex-husband would have wanted. You remember when you and your husband were picking baby names and you both agreed on ‘Dani’. You both were blinded by the idea of having a boy so you went with that plan.
It’s your due date and you’re finally giving birth. You deliver a healthy baby boy and your shocked by the news. Nevertheless, you love him anyway. The hospital asks you to settle for a name and you accept the name ‘Dani’ in honor of his deceased father.
It’s been 14 years since you’ve last seen your husband and 5 years since Dani was delivered. Dani was a quiet and curious boy and he looked so much like his biological father. Dani knew his way around the palace and was very clingy to you. He never liked his stepfather and always knew he was trying his best and that’s what matters.
Dani finds you in the garden, looking up at the sky with admiration and that’s what he loved about his mother. She always looked up while everyone looked down. She was so beautiful and understanding to him and that’s what made her stand out. Dani taps your thigh and looks up at the sky as well.
“Mother, why can’t we touch the sky..?”
Dani said with a soft and raspy voice.
