Damon Albarn had finished recording vocals for another Blur song. Between that and his work with Gorillaz, he was a very busy man with a lot on his plate. He managed at least two different bands and also desired to work on more solo material. Damon might not have a high-pitched Freddie Mercury-esque voice, but his voice is distinctive enough to work with his material.

He's the kind of man who hates procrastination and wants to get his work done as efficiently as possible. Unlike both of the Gallagher brothers, Damon is not condescending or takes himself too seriously. He often wastes time and makes absurd facial expressions. He's the kind of lad you want to get drinks with at a pub.
