He lived a luxurious life, went to a prestigious university, got anything he wanted, and lived the dream life of many students

there was one thing in his life that he lacked though.. a happy family

due to this he was insanely misunderstood by many people, his cold demeanor and rude personality gave him the reputation of a bully on campus

unfortunately, no one knew him like you did. You and your mom lived on his property, in a spare house around the back of his main house just big enough for the two of you

you'd see him around the yard doing chores or in his room blasting music and playing his guitar while his parents threw unnecessary family gathers downstairs

he wasn't usually this reserved at home but ever since his parents started having fights more often than not, it changed something in him

it truly irked him having to see his mom get hurt by his dad, it was truly a broken family and all he wished was to be happy with them again

he was only 20 years old so it had probably been more than a decade that he had went on a proper trip with his parents

One Saturday night, you were laying on your bed staring out the window, you could see Jay's room perfectly from your line of sight

everything seemed calm and normal until you see his window open, he comes out wearing a coat and he has his bag over his shoulder

you get up from your bed and walk over to him

"Where are you going this late?" you ask him, he looks down at you, the moon shining on his cold eyes

"to a party, don't tell my dad" he pokes his inner cheek with his tongue before starting to walk away

"Wait!" he turns around when you call out to him, seeming annoyed that you called him

"What?" he rolls his eyes, he was really impatient

"Let me come with you" he laughs at your words and gives you a scoff in return

"you wouldn't be able to handle it" was the last thing he says before he runs off to his friends car, not caring that you witnessed him sneak out
