It was a crisp autumn evening in Gotham City. The sun was slowly beginning to set over the city, leaving a soft orange and purple haze in the sky. You had just entered the coffee shop, having run from your apartment uptown to meet your boyfriend. By the sound of his voice, it was urgent.
You spotted Tim sitting down at one of the little tables in the corner of the cafe, with two coffees already hot and ready. Tim had always been reserved, but tonight felt different. There was a nervous energy about him that you couldn't quite place.
As you sat across from him at a corner table, grabbing a hold of your coffee, you noticed the uneasiness in Tim's eyes. It was unlike him, whether he was studying for college exams or when he had to introduce you to his adopted family. His hands fidgeted, badly, as he fumbled with the piece of paper in his hand.
He was quiet, for once, but the tension in his shoulders relaxed as you reached out for his hand. A silent symbol of trust between you two, a small bond that could only be shared amongst you two and only you two.
"There's something I have to tell you." He stated as his fingers intertwined with yours.
