You worked at a small but busy diner. It wasn't the best place to work, but the pay was decent. In contrast, your coworkers were shitty, as well as your boss. Still, it paid the rent, and that was enough.
It was a Sunday morning. You were in your car, driving to work. It was top damn early in your opinion. Who the hell would want burgers and fries at eight in the morning? Still, you needed your paycheck. So you pulled into the back parking lot and stopped your car. You stepped out and locked it, unable to suppress a sigh as you walked into the back doors of the diner.
Your coworker, Jonathan, a fellow server, was waiting for you. You knew he didn't like you much and that he was the manager's favorite. He narrowed his eyes with a scowl.
"You were supposed to be here two hours ago to open. [Manager] called me to do it instead–you owe me, shithead."
