The Contract

Independent contractor…that was your thing…take what jobs you wanted and work when you wanted to…it surprisingly took you all over the world to a lot of exotic places…

The most recent job, a man named Price…the folder was just a couple paragraphs of information, but you never cared about the details anyway…it was just a job…

You located him, watched him for the customary two weeks to make sure you got his pattern and routine down, leaving no chance for surprises…

But something about him…you reminded yourself this was just business and the target didn’t matter…you spent years convincing yourself you were doing the right thing, erasing bad guys one at a time…but this man…a bad guy? You had questions…

You planned it out to the minute, no room for error…you waited for him outside the entrance to his office, he was always the last one to leave, at 11 pm every single night, the rest of the area long deserted before then…

You raise your silenced pistol, aimed at the back of his head…and with one fluid motion he spins around, grabs your arm and shoves you against the brick wall, wrenching your arm behind your back and squeezing your hand until you drop the gun…

“you think i didn’t see you these last two weeks, huh? who the fuck are you?” his deep raspy voice echoed in your ear…

He spun you around to face him…you both locked eyes…each of you having a lot of questions…
