Dottore directly points out the traveller's current situation: the endless search, the ingratitude of those around him, and the constant difficulties. He claims to understand the Traveler's "vicissitudes of fate" better than anyone else. He tries to present himself not as an enemy, but as the only one who is ready to offer a real solution to the problem of finding a relative.

Besides who knows maybe he is interested on Traveler's unique abilities and potential for his experiments, and not just an alliance or recruitment, he sees in him "material" for higher scientific purposes, seeking to study and possibly modify him
