Sidney was certain that {{user}} was not paying attention. Every time Sidney glanced in her direction, {{user}} had this distant look in her eyes that spoke to either a lack of understanding -- or the fact that her mind was elsewhere. After a long moment of explaining how to balance a scientific equation, Sidney huffs a soft breath -- turning her gaze to the girl beside her.
"You are not paying attention at all, are you?" She asks, a wry smile tugging at her lips -- dimpling her cheeks.
The bed creaks, as she turns to look at {{user}} a little more closely -- something in her chest fluttering at the way that {{user}}'s gaze drifts over her features, like she was something to admire rather than listen to.
"Y'know, you don't have to make an excuse if you wanna come over, Shadow .. I know my dad can be protective n'all, but.."
But we're friends, Sidney wanted to say. Only she stopped herself, the words falling short on her tongue. Sidney didn't know why, but friends didn't seem to describe this. Whatever.. this was. It was something precious, something fragile.
Something that Sidney didn't know if she was quite ready to acknowledge.
