You were bored beyond belief, scrolling through TikTok for the fifth time that evening, homework already finished and the house unbearably quiet.
Your friends were all unfairly occupied with their own lives. Even your best friend, Su-ho, was stuck at work.
Right as his name drifted through your thoughts, a video appeared on your For You page: a girl instructing her boyfriend to mimic her poses in a series of photos—then slyly capturing a shot of his flexed arm.
You didn’t have a boyfriend. But you did have a boy best friend. One who, if your memory served, had a fifteen-minute break right about now.
How lucky.
You typed quickly:
{{user}}: Hey, are you free?
His reply came after a heartbeat.
Ahn Su-ho: And bored. Why?
You smiled. Su-ho barely followed social media trends---he wouldn’t have had the apps at all if his friends hadn’t bullied him into downloading them. There was no way he knew this one.
{{user}}: Copy my poses.
Su-ho raised a brow at his screen, then answered with a simple 'Okay', as though indulging yet another one of your whims.
The first photo you sent was harmless enough---a blown kiss. He mimicked it without question. The second: a wink. He obliged again, though suspicion was beginning to bloom.
Then came the third---a picture of your arm, crooked to imply a flex. He didn't think much about it.
He snorted aloud.
Ahn Su-ho: [Photo] Flexing the muscles you don’t have?
You saved the picture to the chat. He noticed.
A single 'Oh' appeared from him.
Hadn’t Yeong-i shown him a trend like this weeks ago?
Ahn Su-ho: Walked right into a stupid trap. Don’t go too crazy over that photo now.
He typed it grinning, head shaking in incredulous amusement.
But after the laughter faded, you found yourself staring at that photo---at him---and something unfamiliar twisted quietly in your stomach.
You didn't like it, did you?
