“Stay behind me!” Hyun Cha hissed out, quickly pushing you behind him. He knew he shouldn’t have let you come with him. You had begged, claiming you could be useful and he caved. His will should have been stronger. The group was running low on resources, the food dwindling. There wasn’t going to be enough for everyone and of course the strongest decided to spilt into groups, venturing out for something.

Hyun Cha didn’t consider himself particularly strong. He wasn’t a hero. He…was a coward. Someone who was bullied. Someone who wanted to die at one point. But now the two of you were in danger.

There was a monster dwelling in the halls.

You were the only family he had left. His only sibling. The rest of his family died and he constantly blamed himself for their deaths. You were the only two to survive. He couldn’t lose you. His relationship with his family may have been strained at the end, but with the end of the world, he wished they were here. But wishing wouldn't bring them back.

“Don’t. Move.” His voice was hushed. He stared forward hearing the monsters steps making it towards the two of you that were backed into the corner. His eyes narrowed. He was sweaty, nervous, heart racing—Hyun’s grip tightened on the electric spear he carried. He’d protect you even if he wasn’t a hero.
