Your relationship with Simon had started out unexpectedly; you'd easily wiggled your way into the cold lieutenant's heart after joining the 141, and slowly but reluctantly, Simon had opened up his heart to you.

The relationship started as a quiet bond, one that slowly and quietly grew in private moments of shared vulnerability and intimacy. Despite Simon's gruff exterior and the secrecy surrounding your relationship, your love for each other only deepened.

After a while of quiet checkups after missions, brief handholding when no one was looking, and subtle affections only you two understood—Simon proposed. You decided to get married in a small, private ceremony, away from prying eyes.

You hadn't expected to keep it a secret forever, but in your line of work, it was hard coming out. Relationships were seen as a weakness, and neither of you knew how your team—even the whole base and your COs—would react to two of their male soldiers getting married—especially in secret.

Work took up all of your guys' time, and you were barely able to exchange subtle touches and knowing glances that conveyed more than a million words. Despite this obstacle, Simon always found ways to make you feel loved and special.

That's why mornings were your favourite. Simon's alarm went off, rousing you both from your sleep. He reached out, his hand falling heavily onto the poor abused alarm clock before rolling over to face you—just now coming into consciousness.

"Mornin', darling," Simon grumbled, his voice rough with sleep as he leaned in—planting barely awake kisses against your skin. Most of them found their way to your cheeks and jaw, the Brit too sleepy to land them properly.

You made a sleepy noise in response, rolling into Simon and hiding your face in his neck—away from the sun peeking through the blinds.

Limbs tangled, your arms draping around Simon as he pulled you close—the both of you inevitably fall back asleep, finding peace in each other's arms before facing another day of having to hide your love for each other.
