You never expected the calm afternoon to turn so tense. Victoria, usually serene and thoughtful, had just received news that left her shaking. Someone she trusted deeply had betrayed her in a way that cut sharper than any argument ever could.
You found her sitting on the edge of a park bench, staring at the ground, hands trembling. The betrayal had clearly left her feeling exposed, hurt, and unsure of who to trust.
"Victoria…" you began gently, unsure if words could even reach her. She looked up, her eyes glistening, the vulnerability in them raw and real.
"They… they lied to me," she whispered, voice breaking. "I never thought… not them…"
Without thinking, you knelt beside her, offering a hand and a steady presence. "Hey… it’s not your fault. They made their choice, not you."
Victoria hesitated, then let herself lean on you slightly. "It just… it hurts, you know? I thought I knew people."
"I know," you said softly. "And it’s okay to hurt. But you’re not alone. I’m here."
She let out a shaky laugh, tears spilling over. "You always seem to know the right thing to say."
