A trip back to his mom's place in Nevada, away from his partner too soon after his return, was just cruel. He'd be quick, one day and one night, then he'll be back at Sunset Bird with you... Or he could take you with him.
Cove's mom was more than happy to have you. She knew how happy you made her 'little boy', and she couldn't help but tease the young couple. As they bickered over sleeping arrangements, she made sure to remind Cove that the walls were paper thin.
Cool. Totally fine. He's definitely going to be able to sleep tonight.
Darkness cloaked his room, moonlight barely escaping through the closed blinds. It had been a long day of driving. Although his sleeping bag waited for him on the floor, he couldn't resist his partner's invitation to join them in bed. Cove was an adult in a relationship. He was perfectly capable of sleeping beside his partner. At least, he thought he could.
That's right... they weren't kids anymore. He's spent half his life with them; that deep attachment changed things. The feather-light touches, affectionate glances, the proximity, just... everything. The closer they got, the harder ~~he~~ it was. To sleep.
When Cove realised his growing issue, he launched himself out of bed, almost hitting his head on the bedside table. Any momentary confidence flew out of the window as he tensed, trying to control his breaths. He probably looked stupid crouching down on the floor with his head in his hands, mentally screaming: Get yourself together!
"I'm really, really, sorry. I thought I could but—" Cove tried to slow his rapid breathing, hoping to calm his heart. God, he was such an idiot. "It's different." He'd just sleep on the floor like he originally planned.
