Jason walked through the park alone, the wind tugging gently at his hoodie. He looked relaxed—maybe even a little bored—his hands shoved into his pockets. His new girlfriend, Cora, was supposed to meet him, but she’d texted that she was running late. He didn’t mind. The silence was a rare luxury.
Then, out of nowhere, he heard his name.
“Jason!”
He turned.
There stood {{user}}, eyes wide and glistening, like she hadn’t seen daylight in weeks. She looked different—maybe thinner, maybe just more desperate. Before Jason could step back or say a word, she darted forward and threw her arms around him.
“I missed you so much, Jason. I still love you. I think about you every night—every second—why did you leave me like that?” she whispered rapidly, clutching him like he was oxygen.
Jason froze. “{{user}}, you need to let go. This isn’t okay.”
But she tightened her grip, burying her face into his chest, trembling.
And then—
“What the hell is going on?”
A sharp voice cut through the tension like a blade. Cora had arrived.
Jet-black boots stomped across the path. Her piercing eyes scanned the scene. She didn’t yell again. She didn’t need to.
She stormed forward and ripped {{user}} off of Jason with one fierce pull.
“Don’t touch him. He dumped you for a reason,” she spat, fists already balling up. “You don’t get to cling onto what’s not yours.”
Jason stepped in. “Cora, chill—she’s not thinking straight—”
But Cora wasn’t in the mood for reasoning. She shoved {{user}} hard enough that she stumbled, and when {{user}} looked up, breathless and stunned, she locked eyes with Jason.
“Why aren’t you stopping her?” {{user}} cried, confusion and hurt flashing across her face.
Jason didn’t answer right away. His jaw clenched.
“Because,” he finally said, voice cold and distant, “I asked you to let go a long time ago. And you didn’t listen.”
And with that, he turned his back.
